Registration is Now Closed

Once again more than 350 artists will be showing their work to the public at more than 145 different studios and sites. We have to close registration so there will be enough time to prepare and print the artist's directory and and maps that will be distributed throughout Silicon Valley. If you missed the deadline this year, we hope to see you for the 2013 event. Check back here in the fall of 2012 for information on how to register for next year's great event.

If you are registered for Silicon Valley Open Studios 2012, watch your e-mail for important updates and information that you will need to make the most of your participation.

Here's what you get:

  • Participation for one, two, or three weekends for one entry fee
  • Your personal page on this web site, with up to three graphics and your artist's statement for one year
  • Your site information and one image in the printed Artist Directory. More than 35,000 copies are distributed freely throughout Silicon Valley
  • Attendance at SVOS University seminars that give you helpful tips on how to get the most out of your Open Studios experience. These are led by veteran artists with years of experience in Open Studios
  • Opportunities to display a sample of your work at one of the preview exhibitions. This is subject to available space so register early.
  • A chance to have your images considered for inclusion in the press kit and on the cover if you register before December 15th.

Prepare Your Images

Each participating artist will have a personal web page on this site that will display three different images of your art work. All of the images submitted should be in jpg format. Most digital cameras present images in this format as a default. Images for the web site should be 72 dpi and 450 pixels wide. All of our designs favor images in landscape format so that give you best use of the space. In addition, one of those images should be designated as the image for the printed Artist Directory. That image should also be submitted as a 300 dpi image and at least 3 inches wide. If images are smaller, they may not look good on the web site.

How to Register

  • Download the registration form at the right
  • You can fill it out on your computer if you have Adobe Reader installed. It's free from Adobe.com. Note to Macintosh users: You can view this form on a Mac but you can't fill it out unless you have Adobe Reader.
  • Otherwise, print it and fill it out manually
  • Each artist must fill out a separate application
  • Be sure to keep a copy of the filled-out form for yourself

Preview Exhibits

Preview exhibits help promote the Open Studios weekends by giving the public a chance to see samples from many of the participating artists. We look for high-traffic public venues to hang the preview exhibits. So far for 2012 we have the preview exhibits sechduled at the Saratoga Library and the Main Street Cafe and Books in Los Altos.

Want your art on the directory cover?

Get your registration in by December 15th and you are eligible to have your art used on the directory cover and the postcard. By mid-December we send the submited artwork to the deisgner to begin working. There's no guarantee as we usually have too many to use, but it's up to the designer to make the selection.

The same images are also sent to the marketing and PR group for use in any marketing material and press releases.
