About Evelyne Consorti

Storytelling: Telling others or yourself a story

I have this tiny collection of five storybook dolls, but am particularly fond of the one with the red bonnet. She reminds me of the well-known children’s tale “The Little Red Riding Hood”, and this is how I began the first painting of "Storytelling". While painting, the dolls were coming to life through my childhood memories.

Every Thursday I would visit my grandmother with whom I always had a very strong bond. I remember her tiny garden where she grew giant daisies, the beautiful roses whose petals she turned into a delicate, sweet jam, and the day she was not there anymore…

Then I came across a book on the designer duo Viktor and Rolf. For each collection, they had dressed a porcelain doll with the most spectacular dress in the show, and right away I thought of my daughter Blanche’s collections. Her designs were a wonderful source of inspiration since they too, came from a land far, far away. These are my stories.
