About Youssef Ismail
Driven by the prophetic statement of the Prophet Muhammad - "The Earth is your Mother, so take care of your Mother" I have endeavored in my photography to portray a spiritual facet of Mother Earth that teaches us how to live together in peace just as the diverse natural does everyday.
My images are captured on traditional film using a 4x5 Large Format view camera. Processed and then scanned using a high-end drum scanner. I then crop, color correct, dodge and burn the image in my digital dark room and then print it using traditional photochemistry combined with a state of the art digital enlarger, the LightJet 5000, or using Ultrachrome archival pigmented dyes on a professional Epson printer. I personally mount each photograph using museum grade archival materials, 100% cotton rag matting, and acid free backing. Each print is then signed and dated in pencil on the mat. Those that are framed are encased behind UV filtering non-glare acrylic with a metal frame. Each of the images is guaranteed fade resistant for up to 60 years.
