About Matthew Bailey Seigel
Matthew is an emerging, contemporary painter whose work explores the intersection of realism and abstraction.
His alla prima paintings are from his explorations en plein air. The natural world is his influence. He explores our local vistas: west towards the Santa Cruz mountains, east for the Diablo range, vineyards, trails and farmers' markets. These are the locations for some of his sky mountain water paintings.
He feels his paintings have imperfections, but through experience he has learned that fixing what he considers wrong sometimes destroys what was fresh or good.
He paints every day; exploring the full range of what paint offers.
