Art has always been a part of my life, certainly, “the Arts;” such as music and painting, have been a part of my life from a very young age. Most of my art education was from middle school and high school. I learned from a very talented and informative high school teacher in my home town of Hanford, California. She gave me the tools and confidence to get started. I painted mostly in oils in the early years and continued from the 60’s through the late 70’s, while working at various jobs. I returned to school in the late 70’s, to earn an Associate’s Degree in Studio Arts, but I knew that art could not be my only source of income. Again, I returned to school to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. From 1980 through 2004, I didn’t paint much. My job as a Software Engineer in the aerospace industry, took most of my time, not to mention home and family.
I paint now for the joy, the creativeness and the feeling of accomplishment. My goal is that the observer feels some sort of emotion when they view my work. My art is an expression of my emotion, be it joy, sadness, peace and harmony or the beauty I find in nature. If, when you view my art, you feel the emotion, then I have accomplished my goal.
