I began painting with pastels thirty years ago and soon changed to oil on canvas. I love to paint the unique landscapes and cityscapes of my surroundings. Plein aire is my favorite activity– capturing the natural beauty of the ocean, vineyards, flower farms, and California blond hills. When I’m not on location, I enjoy painting from the colorful compositions in photos we’ve taken while traveling: Villages and local scenes in Africa, Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico.
My impressionistic and colorful style has evolved through plein aire workshops in Arizona, Colorado, and California. As a good friend and an amazing teacher, Ken Auster, has had the strongest influence on my work. My paintings hang in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. I have participated in various shows in the Bay Area as well as on the Monterey Peninsula. I also enjoy painting murals, most recently at a school near Ensenada, Mexico.
