Nature is my primary inspiration. I like to find the hidden colors in rocks, trees, water, and flowers. I have spent many summers in Yosemite National Park, and it has been a constant source of inspiration for me.
Watercolor is my favorite medium. I love the effects achieved by layering and blending transparent colors. I have recently begun using liquid watercolors that enable me to achieve intense colors while retaining the ability to create delicate washes. I focus most on color and shape. I try to look beyond the colors typically associated with my subject and capture the feeling, rather than the photographic detail of the subject.
I have been exposed to art since I was young, because my mother was a watercolorist. I have learned art through classes and workshops from fine instructors such as Jane Burnham, Stephen Quiller, John Salminen, and Mike Bailey.
I do not sell prints of my work. I like to imagine my original paintings gracing the walls of my customers.
