I strive, with all my work, to put the beauty of the world through the eyes of the artist on canvas. To me, a picture is all about beauty. And beauty is not only typically found in the places where we think, although I do find beauty – and paint – some of those things: bold bouquets of roses, quiet scenes in nature. Often, my pictures also include some deeper, spiritual element, which, through beauty, I hope will bring the viewer to a more peaceful place and let the heart rejoice. I have painted a number of different series: 1) rural farming; 2) seascapes; 3) roses and other still life paintings; 4) the complete California missions; and 5) other landscapes. Landscapes are done either plein air or from sketches made on-site and then refined in studio. Still life paintings are done in-studio, often from natural materials.
