Catherine di Napoli came to the world of abstract expressionist art through her work producing and writing feature films such as (UNTITLED) set in the world of contemporary art and music and THE ARCHITECT, now available on Showtime.
di Napoli's new Ground Series builds on her Ecstasy Series, first inspired by Scriabin's musical composition "Poem of Ecstasy," 1908. These pieces depict the way energy changes when one connects to the ground and the heavens. Old, dark energy is spiritually recycled back into the earth while fresh energy enters from the heavens in the form of vibrant color. This process of plugging into the earth and the heavens is referred to as "Grounding."
Di Napoli started printing on fabric for a client who fell in love with one of her paintings, but was on holiday and could not ship the large work. Her solution was to print the painting on a 4 x 6 foot silk and mail it to Italy. This inspiration has been realized as “Napolica…the Art-Scarf.” (www.theartscarf.com)
di Napoli was featured in Zener Schon Gallery’s Innovative Women Artists in Mill Valley, exhibited at Telegraph Hill Gallery in San Francisco, the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, and has had solo exhibitions at DPT in Palo Alto, Mill Valley, and San Francisco. Her paintings are on exhibition in lobbies and offices in California and included in collections throughout the US. (www.catherinedinapoli.com)
