Agnes Derbin-Caulfield is primarily known for her landscape paintings. Her paintings are impressions in oil on canvas and reflect her passion for nature. She is particularly inspired by the drama of the San Francisco baylands. Her quirky still life paintings or “mug shots” of fruit, vegetables and flowers display vibrant and subdued colors. In some cases the form is reduced to abstraction and pure color.
Agnes has been painting on the peninsula for many years in plein air groups and in her Japan Town Cannery Park studio. In 2015 she moved her studio to the Citadel Art studios building. She occasionally meets with a small group of plein air artists at various locations on the peninsula. Agnes is a member of the Oil Painters of America and has participated in the Silicon Valley and Peninsula Open Studios events in the past. She exhibits her paintings in local shows and open studio events.
