Amy Brown is an emerging artist working in fabric to make small soft sculptures. She often works from scrap fabrics and no patterns to achieve a surprise shape. Pieces are not meant to live alone, but in colonies or collections. Brown has recently begun work in quilting and lets that practice influence her sculpture. Expect bright colors, organic and unsettling shapes, and the whisper of cellophane streamers.
Brown is a self-taught sewist and artist, with shows at Empire Seven Studios (2016), Space B (2017) and The Fenix (2018). She also makes giant fruit and vegetable pillows under the moniker Jumbo Jibbles.
